Ed Katz has spent his career advising clients on a full range of strategic and M&A matters, focusing primarily on Information Services, Media, Communications, and Technology.

Representative assignments include advising the Independent Transaction Committee of the Board of Directors of Sprint on its $146bn combination with T-Mobile U.S.; Time Warner Cable on its withdrawn $70bn sale to Comcast and defense to counter Charter’s unsolicited bid; Deutsche Telekom on its $29bn reverse merger of T-Mobile USA with MetroPCS and T-Mobile USA’s withdrawn $39bn merger with AT&T; Thomson Reuters on the $27bn sale of Refinitiv to the London Stock Exchange, acquisitions of Confirmation Inc., HighQ and FC Business Intelligence and its $20bn strategic partnership with and sale of a 55% stake in Financial & Risk to Blackstone; separation of Xerox into two independent companies; Corporate Executive Board on its $3.3bn sale to Gartner and its $275mm acquisition of eVanta from Leeds Equity Partners; Moody’s on its $2bn acquisition of Risk Management Solutions from DMGT; FactSet on its $1.9bn acquisition of CUSIP Global Services from S&P Global; Catalent on its $1.2bn acquisition of Paragon Biosciences; Axioma on its $850mm combination with Deutsche Börse’s DAX and STOXX Businesses and equity investment from General Atlantic; Clear Channel Outdoor on its ~$570mm sales of certain outdoor markets to Lamar Advertising and other independent advertising operators; Investments Metrics on its $500mm sale to Confluence Technologies (portfolio company of Clearlake Capital and TA Associates); Pandora on SiriusXM's $480mm preferred equity investment; SiriusDecisions on its $245mm sale to Forrester Research; Cboe Global Markets on its acquisition of BIDS Trading; MediaMath on its recapitalization by Searchlight Capital; Zayo Group on its IPO; Crown Castle on its $4bn common and mandatory convertible equity issuances to fund the purchase of AT&T Towers; and creditor advisory for GTT Communications, Intelsat, IPC Systems, and National CineMedia.

Prior to joining Centerview in 2014, Ed was a member of the Media and Communications Investment Banking Group at Morgan Stanley. He began his career as a member of Morgan Stanley’s Research division.

Ed received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and is a CFA Charterholder. He lives in New York City with his wife and son.
